Linux is more plug ang play that Windows for the vast majority of devices as you don't require to install drivers 99 times out of 100 since the drivers are included in the kernel. They're not installed by default as you can see with dpkg -s joystick and dpkg -s xserver-org-input-joystick. You might want to sudo apt install -y joystick xserver-org-input-joystick and reboot. Packages related to " joystick" you might want to install: There are cases where the joystick is well recognized but not working with all programs (missing packages ?). you might want to ask there as well, should there not be joystick wizards among us. It appears that your device has been supported in the Linux Kernel since Linux 2.6 (ages ago) and should be recognized out of the box according to some forums.

There's no notification when you hook up something (not storage related) in this distro and there's generally no need to install any software for your hardware to work.Ī quick " Logitech Wingman Attack 3 Linux" search brought me this: Hi and welcome to the Ubuntu MATE Community If I can't use my joystick on Linux I will be erasing the drive for the last time. Please someone tell me "you can find the drivers here". If Linux wants more people to drop Windows, you gotta have plug and play because I am not a programmer and to old to learn.Īnd if my memory is correct, the 4 previous times I tried Linux I ended up with about the same problem (hardware relayted) and just deleted the drive. So what I found was too technical for me like building my own drivers.

As it says in section 3.1 of you are supposed to add the bits to get the mapping, am I doing that correctly (13 or 31 seem like the most correct mapping)? Any help appreciated, thanks for reading.Hi, this will be the 5th time that I try Mate distro in my life because I hate Windows with a passion and I want to be Windows free for the remainder of my life. It's a 2 button 3 Axis joystick, the pins connected in the joystick are: 1 (5v), 2 (A1 button), 3 (Ax pot), 4 (Ground), 6 (Ay pot), 7 (A2 button), 13 (By pot). I actually measured the impedance and continuity of the gameport to map out the pots/buttons. I know the gameport and joystick both work as I tested them on a spare windows drive with that soundcard and I am using a midi adapter in the gameport that works fine. I have a CMI8738 with joystick_port=1 and a Logitech Wingman 3001 I can see the gameport in dmesg but the stick won't appear (in dmesg, jscal, /dev/js* or /dev/input/js*) I've tried modprobe ns558 I posted this on /r/linuxquestions the other day but have yet to get a response I feel like this sub may be more appropriate.
